It started snowing here last night around 6pm and has not stopped yet! The teak table on the back deck has what we call "the cake" (it looks like a big fluffy coconut cake after a snowstorm) on top of it. The "cake" looks like it measures about 24 inches high right now. No telling what it will measure by the time it is done snowing. Oh well, it is a lovely day to be kinda snowed in. That is one of the things I love about living in New England.
So. First of all I am cleaning up my studio. I have about 3 unfinished projects sitting around. I am still obsessed with anything "Alice" (in Wonderland). I have finished 3 small spools, one of Alice, the white rabbit and the Mad Hatter. Eventually I will post photos of these. I made a very cute book marker but sent it to my daughter to enjoy. I have a large spool to complete and another small (4.5 inches tall) spool with vintage French grammar paper on it that is begging to be finished.
Speaking of Coconut Cake....I owe my neighbor Archie one. I'll post a photo of that when it is done and the recipe. Yum!
Renee Zarate's Bolton House is still in New England but Renee herself has moved on to South Carolina. The days are a little different now, no garden to take care of means more studio time. Dealing with snow and blizzards will be a thing of the past but there will be new challenges. Challenges like...how will we ever carry these two chairs and this huge umbrella down to the beach? Stay tuned.

Just the beginning
This is my first "blogging" attempt. I am setting goals for myself for the coming new year and I hope that by having a blog I will stay on track and focused. Over the course of the year I will be posting new recipes developed for my newspaper column, The Mixing Bowl. At the same time I will be posting samples of my artwork that have been submitted to magazines for publication. I welcome your comments and suggestions.
Hope you enjoy the site.
